JIPMER made Institute of National Importance, Kalam dedicates
On October 15, 2008, former President A P J Abdul Kalam dedicated the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate
Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) to the nation as an Institute of National Importance.
At a function organised at the institute premises that evening, Dr Kalam also inaugurated the OPD wing of the
super speciality block, trauma care centre and an auditorium.
JIPMER, managed by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry for about 50 years, was converted into an Institute
of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in July 2008.

Jipmer Net is a large family of websites that includes the Jipmer Net Database, the Jipmer Net Forum,
the Jipmer Net Photogallery, the magazine section, the JAA, JAANA, JAAUK, JAANI, JSA and JRDA websites, class websites,
blogs, and much more. Jipmer Net was established in the December of 1994 by Shyam Visweswaran (class of 1983).

Jipmer Net is dedicated to the memories of Jayadev Menon and Mohammed Nadeem aka Naddu both of the class of 1983
who were tragically plucked from this world when far too young.
